SolarPodTM Process (typical)

  • Site assessment  Includes
  1. How much space you have?
  2. What is your energy consumption?
  3. Are there any shading?
  4. Best location in property for solar? and
  5. Cost estimate?
  • Modular Once site assessment is completed, you can decide to choose a small system to save on capital costs.  This provides you the ability to spread tax credits over number of years.  It also provides you a low cost entry.
  • Design  Includes construction plan, site plan and one line diagram.  Construction plan ensures how each of the SolarPodTM components fit together.  Site plan provides location of solar and one line diagram shows the electrical connections.
  • Permit  Take the design to the city and utility for permit approvals.  We can do this if we install.  If you install or you use your contractor, you or your contractor must pull the permit.  We will provide the design documents for the permit approvals.
  • Installation  We use highly skilled electricians only.  All qualified local electricians can install our systems, they need to follow or installation manuals.
  • Commissioning   Once system is installed, the electrician can turn the system on.
  • Service  Call us for any questions.
  • Follow-up  We can help you with follow – up any time.  Wish to add to your system, we can do that.  Our system is the most adaptable for modularity.
  • In Summary  We have your back covered for solar.

  • How will my solar electric system effect the community I live in?  It shows you are conscious about the present environment.  It demonstrates you have done your home work and found financial benefits and wish to add value to your asset.
  • Impact on property value?  Studies by Lawrence Berkeley Labs have shown property value increases of 5 to 10% with solar PV compared.
  • How much space?   Typically for roof installs, you need about 100 sq. ft of roof space for 1 kW.  Each 1 kW SolarPod Grid Tied occupies a ground space of 13 ft 6 in by 5 ft.
  • What system size?  Look at your electric bill.  Find the kWh/month or kWh/period.  Multiply by 12 to get annual consumption.  Then use our simple calculator “SolarPod Calculator” to find the kW size.  This size is for Grid Tied systems.  For Standalone or Off Grid the rule of thumb is 1.5 times the Grid Tied kW size is required.
  • Grid Tied vs Standalone?
  1. Grid Tied systems work similar to an appliance (Refrigerator, Lights, etc.). When the Grid (Power company) is ON, you have power.  When the Grid is down you have no solar power.  The advantage is you offset your energy bill by using grid tied solar.
  2. Standalone (Off Grid) solar charges the storage batteries. The energy from the batteries can be used any time.  The amount of storage batteries will depend on your consumption.  The amount of solar will depend on the storage batteries and amount of sun in your location.
  3. Grid Tied solar is less expensive than standalone solar. Grid Tied solar has more bureaucracy cost from utility.  Standalone solar insulates from energy cost fluctuations, and down utility power.
  • Ground mount or Roof Mount?
  1. If roof has southern exposure the best option is roof top solar.
  2. If you have a sloped roof, the cost of installation is lower than ground mount.
  3. If you do not have a southern exposure ground mount is a better option.
  4. Roof top generally has higher Sun exposure because of shading from trees on the ground.
  5. Ground mount SolarPod gives 10 to 20% more energy than conventional fixed solar. The tilt adjust capability is a key to increasing energy output at no extra cost.
  • Roof type?  SolarPod can be installed on all roof types.
  • Roof orientation?  Best orientation is south for North America.
  • Roof pitch?  All roof pitches are solar potential.  In northern states that experience much snow, higher winter angles are optimal to shed snow from solar panels.  Ideal tilt angles are at latitude for winter and latitude minus 15 degree for summer.
  • Shading concerns?  Shading does reduce power. With our panel level power design, the power is maximized to your benefit.
  • SolarPodTM typical life expectancy?
  1. Solar panels have a typical warranty of 25 years.
  2. Grid Tied Micro inverters have a warranty of 25 years.
  3. Grid Tied string inverters have a warranty of 12 years.
  4. Off Grid Inverters have a warranty of 2 to 5 years.
  • What is net metering?  A Grid Tied system can generate more energy than you use during the day. This over production is metered and the power company buys the excess power at the same retail rate.
  • Payback?
  1. Residential systems can take 30% Fed tax credit hence payback is about 10 years for a grid tied system.
  2. Business that have a tax burden can take 30% Fed tax credit plus the 5 year accelerated depreciation.  This brings the payback to about 5 years.
  • Permit requirement?  City permits may be required.  SolarPod is fully UL Listed.  We can provide permit requirements.
  • Rebates?  Everyone in the US gets 30% Fed tax credit up to year 2021.  You can get additional 5 year accelerated depreciation if the system is installed in a business.  There may be other rebates from your utility company.  We can help fill the forms for those.  Responsibility to get the forms is yours.
  • System Maintenance?  Most places rain cleanses the glass.  If you see dust build up, use water to clean.
